New lease of life....

Do you remember the monograms I bought in Paris a few weeks ago?
Well, today I was wondering what I could do with them .....a quick light bulb moment .... and  I remembered I had a headboard in need of re-covering.
So choosing the top left one which was the remains of an old, fine linen sheet...I quickly upholstered the headboard.

Legs back on......

A little wonky where I pulled the fabric too enthusiastically......but once it is on the bed with pillows, sheets and vintage eiderdown it should not be noticed.

Not bad for 4 Euros....

Just need to decide what to do with the other three now....

  5. What an inspired idea and such a great result.

None of the beds in my house have headboards. So, I have come-up with the idea of a simple, quite large, wooden frame covered in fabric to hang on the wall over each bed.

Thank you for your lovely comments on my blog. Perhaps you'll be persuaded to take a trip soon.

  15. What an ingenious idea! It looks lovely. I do like monograms. (Incidentally I always like that line from Gershwin's 'Someone to Watch Over Me' - 'I'd like to add his initials to my monogram'.)

  19. Wow...............so nice to see these old treasured monograms having a new life. If you think of the love and care a mother, grandmother and daughter would put into preparing a trousseau with the bride and bridegrooms initials all those years ago. You have done them proud!!
