Cheery pictures for a miserable morning......

A naive style painting of Lynmouth, Devon......and a view of the harbour at Looe, Cornwall.
I presume dating from the 1950's - 1960's. On the reverse of both paintings is a label......"An original painting by Chandos 45/-"
90/- would have been a fair bit of money in those days....

I have seen prints by this artist who I believe worked in the South-East but I know very little about him.

Finally, I had to buy this oil painting, it really made me smile......
The Englishman and wife on the beach..... hats on, radio, newspaper and woolly rug.... all that's missing is the flask and "sandy" sandwiches.......
I love the see through top and the visible bra...such a don't care attitude!

Have a cheery week.....

  2. It is a bit grey today, though the autumn leaves are doing their best here to cheer things up. Lovely seaside pictures. And I love the couple one! Looks like a good Roberts radio though - they don't want to get sand in that! Have a good day. Abby

  3. Hilarious. I think I'd have put a knotted hankie on the man's head! They look a great couple and absolutely typical. Dreadful weather here in Lakeland today. I could just do with a sit on the beach and a few sandy sarnies to munch on.

  6. It turned really wet and nasty this afternoon, so seeing the paintings has cheered up the evening!
