Victorian goodies and sparkly bits......

As promised, some new acquisitions from Kendal on Sunday......a  hand worked, unfinished quilt or table cover with geometric pattern of spider's web embroidery in little squares....

Three fabulous Victorian hats.......
A black velvet smokers cap with embroidered dianthus flowers and green silk bow with dangly bead ends....

Black basket work and beaded lace hat with faded violet and ribbon front.......

And a wired ribbon fascinator style with black watered silk ties.

More cutlery.....lovely, large vintage berry spoons.......

A1 quality silver plate forks with initials....

And a sweet engraved spoon and fork with initials AW on the reverse.......

Finally, a sparkly tiara and sparkly buckles.......

All destined for my next few Fairs at Durham and Hexham......

  1. Oh! If only I lived nearer! Some real finds there. Love the berry spoons particularly but everything is gorgeous. I like the original idea for your labels too.
By the way, why did men need special hats for smoking?

  5. Lovely sprkly buckles - are some of them shoe buckles do you think? Our snow is quite light compared to some but I wouldn't mind if it rained at the weekend.

  9. Thanks so much for visiting Ormolulu and leaving a nice comment, Julie! We seem to have a lot in common . . . I've always wanted an AGA, I own a wooden-handled, silver plate syrup (?) JUST like the one on your website, I collect old rocking horses . . . well, the list goes on! Your blog is beautiful!!!! How do you get the *snow*?

  10. Dear Julie,
What fabulous hats and beautiful cutlery - very nice finds indeed! Seeing your snow images below literally made me gasp - it looked like home ( i e Sweden), but to imagine that this is in the UK - very exotic indeed! I hope you are not suffering too much with the implications of such weather and accompanying treacherous road conditions...

Your stall in an earlier entry looked lovely and your images from Paris made me itch all over... I had planned to meet up with a friend there earlier this autumn, but had to postpone. Hopefully I will be able to attack the French flea markets early in the new year... I wonder how to bribe the Eurostar staff to let me on with all the bargains I hope to find... ;-) Realistically, Paris prices might just make that task unnecessary...

Thank you so much for leaving such nice comments on my blog - you are very kind!

    Warm regards,
